Leila Maria was born in Rio de Janeiro in 1959. Her debut album came out in 1982, with the title track 'Você Vai Ser O Meu Escândalo' becoming a national hit. That song, along with others like 'Bom é Beijar' and 'Seu Tipo', helped establish her in Brazilian music during the early 1980s.
She worked with musicians including Carlinhos Brown, Gilberto Gil, Caetano Veloso, and Chico Buarque. Her albums from that period include 'Baile de Máscaras' in 1984, 'Rock'n'Roll' in 1986, and 'Taj Mahal' in 1988.
Later releases include 'Luz do Mundo' in 1991, a self-titled album in 2000, and 'Assim Sou Eu' in 2008. Her catalog also contains songs like 'All Of You' and 'Gatas Extraordinárias'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
