Lenny B formed in Rio de Janeiro in the late 1990s, with Bruno Nunes on vocals, Renan Rodrigues on bass, Kuky Cury on drums, and Celso Júnior on keyboards. Their sound pulled from Brazilian funk and hip-hop, with influences like Tim Maia and Jorge Ben Jor in the mix.
Their 2002 debut album 'Vai Passar Mal' included the single 'Bateu Recalque,' which became a hit and pushed them into wider recognition. The band's lyrics sometimes touched on sexuality and social inequality, which drew criticism from conservative circles at the time.
Later albums like 'Não Me Deixe Só' showed a quieter side, while 'Na Base do Funk' and 'Original' returned to their funk roots. They've worked with other Brazilian artists including Ivete Sangalo and Daniela Mercury. Their catalog also includes tracks like 'Look At Me Now' and 'Play Music DJ.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
