Archive material and source history
Leno Dias was born in Salvador, Bahia in 1945. He formed a band in the late 1960s with bassist Sidnei, guitarist Zé Miguel, and drummer André. Their sound mixed psychedelic rock with bossa nova and traditional Brazilian rhythms.
Their 1973 debut album 'Leno Dias' brought them attention, particularly the track 'A Borboleta da Imaginação Pousa Em Sua Flor Maior.' In 1975, Dias left Brazil for Portugal during the military regime. He recorded albums like 'Entre o Céu e o Inferno' and 'Nação Zumbi' while abroad.
Dias returned to Brazil in 1980. He continued making music that incorporated jazz and funk elements, and also worked as an actor and television host. He died in 2009.
