His 1975 song "La Ballade des Gens Heureux" became his most recognizable work, though he also wrote tracks like "Si tu ne me laisses pas tomber" and "Voici les clés."

He won the Victoire de la Musique for Best Male Artist in 1985. Other artists including Céline Dion, Mireille Mathieu, and Johnny Hallyday have covered his songs.
