Lentter formed in Stockholm in the early 2000s with Anna Ternheim on vocals, Andreas Mattsson on guitar, and Fredrik Lindqvist on drums. Their sound had a quiet, thoughtful quality, with Ternheim's voice floating over arrangements that felt more like folk or jazz than straightforward pop.
In 2004, they released "Downtown," a song that caught on in Sweden and beyond. It was spare and melodic, with lyrics that felt personal rather than anthemic. That track led to their first album, This Is Where the Truth Begins, in 2005.
Ternheim left for a solo career in 2007, but Mattsson and Lindqvist kept the band going, putting out two more albums over the next few years. Songs like "Filling On" and "Motorcycle" kept that same intimate, slightly melancholic tone, even as the lineup shifted.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
