Leo Barreto came up in Salvador, Bahia, and put out his first album, "Cansei de Chorar," in 1995. A few years later, his 1999 self-titled album had the song "Amor Pra Mim," which caught on across Brazil. He's also known for tracks like "Até Um Dia, Johnny" and "Blues No Jardim."
In 2006, there were some plagiarism claims around his song "Fim de Tarde," but they didn't stick. He kept recording after that, with albums like "Bossa Nova" in 2003 and "Axé" in 2005. His work touches on those styles, along with others that show up in Brazilian pop.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
