Leo Rico formed in São Paulo in 2008, with Leonardo Gonçalves on vocals and Ricardo Martins on guitar and vocals. Their song 'Comida a Kilo' became something of an anthem for Brazil's home-style buffets, mixing pop, funk, and samba in a way that felt familiar but fresh.
They put out their first album, 'Bem Servido,' in 2010. Later records like 'Tudo no Prato' and 'Na Mesa' kept that blend going, leaning into funk and pop while staying grounded in Brazilian rhythms. Other tracks like 'Beber É Bom de Mais' and 'Desculpe Mais Eu Vou Chorar' show their knack for catchy, everyday themes.
In 2013, they drew some criticism for covering the samba classic 'Mulher Rendeira,' with traditionalists saying they were disrespecting the genre's roots.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
