Leon Bridges

Leon Bridges grew up in Fort Worth, Texas, where he sang in church choirs as a child. That early exposure to gospel music shaped his vocal approach, and he later found inspiration in classic soul singers like Sam Cooke and Otis Redding. He recorded his first album in 2015, simply called 'Leon Bridges,' which introduced his throwback soul sound to a wider audience.

He followed it with 'Good Thing' in 2018 and 'Gold-Diggers Sound' in 2021, expanding his sound while keeping that soul foundation. Other songs like 'River' and 'Beyond' show his range, from spiritual ballads to more contemporary R&B grooves.

Bridges works primarily as a solo artist, though he often performs with a backing band. His lyrics tend to be personal, dealing with love and reflection over arrangements that nod to 1960s soul without feeling like pure revivalism.
