Leôn Harã formed in the early 2000s around multi-instrumentalist and vocalist Leoni, with guitarist Rômulo Fróes, bassist Dinho Almeida, and drummer Chico Braga. Their name comes from the Tupi-Guarani phrase for 'lion of the forest.' They released their self-titled debut album in 2003, which mixed rock, samba, and folk elements.
Their song 'Há Tempo Para Tudo' from that period addressed child prostitution in Brazil, drawing both attention and criticism. Other tracks like 'Desunião' and 'Redenção' show their tendency to work with social themes in their lyrics.
After 2003, they put out albums including 'Maré' in 2007 and 'O Mundo É Pequeno' in 2011. The band kept playing and recording through at least the mid-2010s.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
