Leonel Núñez, who performs as LioN, was born in San Juan, Puerto Rico in 1988. He grew up around Christian music in his local church, which shaped his early interest in writing and performing. In 2014, he released his debut album 'La Promesa,' which included the song 'Jesús Te Amo.' That track found an audience across Latin America.
His music often works with traditional Latin rhythms and straightforward lyrics about faith and encouragement. Other songs like 'Tú Siempre Estuviste' and 'Socórreme' follow a similar pattern of upbeat melodies with devotional themes. He's put out several albums since, including 'Inquebrantable' in 2017 and 'Mi Esperanza' in 2022.
In 2016, there was some discussion about a melody in one of his songs sounding similar to another artist's work. LioN maintained he hadn't plagiarized anything, and he kept recording. He has worked with other musicians like Frankie Morales and Juan Luis Guerra. His band has included drummer Joniel Rodríguez and bassist Daniel.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
