Leopoldo Rassier came up in Porto Alegre, where he started writing songs as a teenager. His first album came out in 1993, and it included 'Veterano,' a ballad about the aftermath of war that stuck with people.
He kept writing songs that felt personal and sometimes pointed, like 'Não Podemos Se Entregá Pros Home' and 'Sabe moço.' In 1999, one of his tracks got pulled from radio for its political content, but he didn't really change course.
Over time he played with other musicians around Porto Alegre, including guitarist Tiquinho and Flávio Santos. The music stayed grounded in the sounds he grew up with, without much fuss.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
