Leoti formed in São Paulo in 1994 around vocalist and songwriter Paulo César Baruk. Their debut album 'Não Quero Mais Você' came out in 1998, with the title track becoming a hit on Brazilian radio. The band followed it with albums like 'Eu Sei' in 1999 and 'Acústico' in 2001.
Baruk's writing often dealt with faith and social themes, while the music leaned toward melodic rock with prominent guitar work. Songs like 'Eu Sei' and 'Mar' show their blend of accessible arrangements and reflective lyrics.
Guitarist André Figueiredo left the band in 2006. Leoti's lyrics sometimes drew attention for their directness, as with the song 'Amigo Verdadeiro'.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
