Juice Leskinen

Juice Leskinen was born in Pori, Finland in 1950. He started writing songs as a teenager, drawing from early rock influences like Chuck Berry and The Beatles. In 1975 he formed Juice Leskinen Grand Slam, a band that mixed rock, blues, and jazz with lyrics that felt more like poetry than typical pop fare.

His 1976 album 'Taukopaikka' brought wider attention, particularly with the single '3.30,' a spare, late-night ballad about insomnia and loneliness that became one of his most recognizable songs. He kept writing and recording steadily, putting out albums like 'Sellaista elämä on' in 1978 and 'Juice' in 1982.

Leskinen's personal life involved struggles with alcohol and occasional legal trouble, and his lyrics sometimes criticized authority in ways that stirred debate. He died in 2006 at 56. His songs, including 'Bluesia Pieksämäen Asemalla' and 'Eesti (On My Mind),' remain part of the Finnish rock conversation, covered by other artists and still played on radio.
