Leslie Clio started writing songs in The Hague, drawing from R&B and soul influences. Her debut album 'Levert' came out in 2009, and a single called 'I Want You' got some radio play in the Netherlands and elsewhere.
She put out a second album in 2012, and a few years later her song 'God No More' stirred up some discussion. The track questions certain beliefs, and while it bothered some listeners, it also did well commercially. You can hear that direct, questioning tone in other songs like 'Twist The Knife' and 'Damage Done'.
By 2017 she had released a third album called 'Euphoria', which felt more personal. The music kept shifting, but those early soul and R&B touches never really left her writing.
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
