Liberator

Liberator formed in Los Angeles around vocalist Matthew Kelly and guitarist Chris Knox. Their early sound took shape on the 2015 EP that included the song "Imaginary Mary," a track that drew some attention for its moody, introspective feel. They followed with albums like 2017's The Revelation of Leviathan and 2019's In the Absence of Everything, building a catalog that often leaned into atmospheric, guitar-based arrangements.

Over time, the band expanded to include James Scott on bass and David Ortega on drums. Their lyrics sometimes touched on themes that sparked debate, though the music itself kept a steady, ethereal quality. Songs like "Almost A Man" and "Natural Component Of Tears" from later work continued in that vein, avoiding big commercial shifts for a more consistent, layered approach.

They put out Euphoric Void in 2022, another set of tracks that didn't stray far from their established sound. Liberator has mostly stayed under the radar, playing to a dedicated following rather than chasing mainstream trends.
