Lighthouse Family formed in Newcastle upon Tyne in 1993, with Tunde Baiyewu and Paul Tucker writing songs together. Their debut album 'Ocean Drive' came out in 1995, and it included the singles 'Lifted' and the title track. They had a few other songs that became familiar, like 'Run' and 'Free'.
Paul Tucker was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1997, which affected how much they could tour. They kept making records anyway, putting out 'Whatever Gets You Through the Day' in 2001. That album had a song called 'High' that some people thought was about marijuana use.
They released five studio albums between 1995 and 2006, including 'Postcards from Heaven' and 'Blue Sky in Your Head.' Their music was mostly gentle, soul-tinged pop with Baiyewu's voice carrying melodies like 'Happy' and 'Wish.'
Keep it compact: a lyric you come back to, a live memory, or the part of the catalog you would point someone toward first.
