Archive material and source history
Lightning was a disco band best known for their 1978 song "Disco Symphony," which became their signature track. The group included Mark "Flash" Gordon on lead vocals, Steve "Thunder" Ward on drums, John "Lightning" James on bass, and David "Starlight" Evans on keyboards.
They released their debut album, also called Disco Symphony, in 1978. Two more albums followed: Electric Avenue in 1980 and The Power of Love in 1982. Other songs in their catalog include "I Love The Way You Love Me," "In And Out Of Love," "One Step At A Time," and "Without Your Love."
During the disco era, some critics dismissed the genre, but Lightning kept making the music they wanted to make. Their records found an audience that appreciated the sound.
