Lil Phat was a rap collective that formed in 1991 with members Big $hawn, Lil' Thick, and DJ Phatman. They came out of Seattle's underground scene and put out their first album, 'Straight Outta the Gutter,' in 1994. The track 'High As a Mother Fucker' from that record got some attention for its direct lyrics.
They kept releasing music through the late '90s, with albums like 'Ridin' Dirty' in 1996 and 'The Phat Tape' in 1998. Songs like 'Count My Money Backwards' featuring Webbie and 'Act Like That' show the kind of straightforward rap they were doing. They worked with other artists too, including Webbie on 'Victoria Secret' and Lady Kim on 'That's My Baby.'
By the early 2000s, the group had mostly stopped working together, with members going off on their own. They put out a compilation called 'The Best of Lil Phat' in 2001. Their music stayed around in the underground circles where it started.
