Lil' Zane was born Zane Copeland in Chicago. He started rapping and singing early, mixing streetwise lyrics with soulful melodies. In 1997, music executive Coolio signed him to Relativity Records, which led to his debut album "Zane's World" the following year.
That album included the single "Anywhere," which became his biggest hit. It had a catchy melody and romantic lyrics that connected with listeners in the late 1990s. Other tracks from his catalog include "Money Stretch" and "Tonite, I'm Yours."
After his initial success, Lil' Zane faced some public challenges, including an assault case in 2001 that briefly sidelined him. He returned to music and went on to release several more albums, like "I Ain't You" and "The Big Zane Theory."
