Lincikil formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil in the 1990s, with Davi Crosa, Adriano Soares, Alessandro Lanzoni, and Rodrigo Simões playing together in a university basement. Their debut album 'Menção Honrosa' came out in 1995, and the title track became their most recognizable song.
They released several albums after that, including 'Pra Cima' in 1997, 'Feito pra Acabar' in 1999, and 'Quarto Crescente' in 2001. The same four members stayed together through those years, which isn't common for bands that last that long.
Some people found their lyrics too heavy or pessimistic, while others appreciated that directness. They were part of a wave of Brazilian rock that felt more personal than what had come before, and they kept playing shows and recording without much lineup drama.
