Lip Roger

Lip Roger is a band that formed around Max Evans, who writes the lyrics and sings lead. Alex Griffin plays guitar and synthesizer, Joe Khan handles bass and backing vocals, and Sam Wilson is the drummer. Their first album, Aerial, came out in 2018 and included the song "Are You Happy Like That?" which became their most recognizable track.

They followed that with Fragile in 2020, a quieter record, and then Atonement in 2022. Their music tends to ask questions about happiness and meaning rather than providing easy answers. Some listeners found their perspective too dark, but others appreciated the directness.

Their song "Tired" captures that mood well, a straightforward expression of weariness that doesn't try to resolve itself. The band's work stays in that space between doubt and observation, without much decoration.
