Lirinha came out of Recife in Brazil's northeast, where the local forró and bossa nova traditions shaped their sound. They started in 2007 with a self-titled album, putting out three more records over the next decade, including 'Tudo É Pra Já' in 2009 and 'Oswald' in 2013.

Their song 'O Amor e Filme' caught on as something of an anthem, and other tracks like 'Ducontra' and 'Noite Fria' have stayed in rotation. The music pulls from those regional styles but doesn't stick to any one formula.

Lirinha works as a quartet with Luciano Pontes on accordion and piano, Beto Hortis on bass, and Emerson Leal on drums and percussion. They've kept at it without much fuss, releasing 'Viva Lirinha' in 2018 and letting the songs speak for themselves.
