Lisa Maffia came up through London's UK garage scene in the late 1990s, working as an MC in clubs before her breakout. Her debut single 'All Over' arrived in 2000 and became a UK number one, an anthem that defined that moment in garage music. She followed it with other tracks like 'In Love' and 'Women Of The World'.

She released her debut album 'First Chapter' in the early 2000s, along with singles like 'Dum Dum'. Her work with So Solid Crew and Ms. Dynamite placed her within a specific London sound of that era. The music had a direct, unpolished energy that fit the clubs where it started.

There were personal and legal difficulties along the way, including a 2002 arrest for marijuana possession. She kept recording through that period, but the momentum from 'All Over' proved hard to sustain. The garage scene itself shifted, and her output became less frequent after the mid-2000s.
