Lisbela

Lisbela formed in Salvador, Bahia in 2002, with Amanda Santiago on vocals, João Cavalcanti handling composition and multiple instruments, and Pedro Miranda on guitar. Their debut album 'Amor de Outros Carnavais' came out in 2005, anchored by the title track that became their most recognizable song. The band's sound mixed Brazilian rhythms with rock and MPB elements, which drew some criticism from listeners who preferred more traditional approaches.

They followed up with 'Camaleão' in 2007, a more experimental record, and 'Sonhador' in 2010. Other songs like 'Calmaria' and 'Garota Com Perfume de Maré' show their range from atmospheric ballads to more rhythmic, percussive tracks. The lineup expanded over time to include percussionist Rafael Pondé and bassist Ricardo Barreto.

Their music has a particular texture, Santiago's voice floating over arrangements that can feel both grounded in Brazilian tradition and quietly adventurous.
