Lisérgicos Originales formed in Porto Alegre, Brazil, in 1986. The band's core lineup included Marcelo Birck on vocals and guitar, Rodrigo Ratier on bass, and Lucas Sant'Anna on drums. They worked in a space where psychedelic rock met punk and experimental sounds, which kept them mostly in the underground scene.
Their 1991 album 'Autocombustão' gave the band one of their most recognized tracks, a song that deals with self-destruction and inner turmoil. Other songs like 'De Muito Tempo' and 'Demônios Entrelaçados' show the same dense, layered approach to their music.
They released several albums through the late '80s and '90s, including their self-titled debut in 1989, 'Viagem Astral' in 1994, and 'Sinfonia do Caos' in 1997. Their music was often too experimental for mainstream Brazilian radio, but it found listeners who were drawn to its raw, psychedelic edge.
