Archive material and source history
Litmus Green was an indie rock band from suburban Austin, Texas that formed in the early 2000s. They were led by frontman Josh Turner and included Sam Wilson on bass, Ryan Johnson on drums, and guitarist Jake Richards, who left in 2007.
They released their first album Suburban Bohemia in 2003, which featured "2.7 Kids" and other songs about suburban life. American Dream followed in 2006, then The Long Way Home in 2009, and Lost in Translation in 2013. Chris Ramsey joined on guitar in 2008 after Richards' departure.
Turner had some substance abuse issues that complicated things for the band during their early years. Their music found an audience among listeners who connected with their straightforward lyrics about ordinary life.
