Archive material and source history
Little Joy formed in 2008 with Fabrizio Moretti from the Strokes on drums and vocals, Binki Shapiro on vocals and guitar, and Rodrigo Amarante, a Brazilian musician who had worked with Devendra Banhart, also on vocals and guitar. They put out a self-titled debut album that year, followed by an EP called 'With Strangers'.
Their songs like 'Brand New Start' and 'Don't Watch Me Dancing' had a light, jangly folk sound with layered harmonies. The band didn't tour much, partly because Moretti was still busy with the Strokes, and they released their debut exclusively through iTunes, which annoyed some fans at the time.
After that first album and EP, Little Joy quietly faded from view. They left behind a handful of gentle, melodic tracks that still pop up on indie playlists now and then.
