Live Squad was a New York hip-hop group that formed in the mid-1990s. Their lineup included Ma$e (Mason Betha), Freek (Tyrone Fyffe), Bloodshed (Rodney Graham), and DJ Premier (Christopher Martin), who was already known for his work with Gang Starr. They released their debut single "Heartless" in 1996, which was produced by DJ Premier and featured Ma$e's vocals.
The group's only studio album was 1997's "The Album," which contained "Heartless" along with tracks like "Headstrong" and "I Know You Want Me (Calle Ocho)." Another song in their catalog was "Murderahh (Original Mix)." Their sound combined street-level lyrics with polished production, though their time together as a group was relatively brief.
After Live Squad disbanded, the members pursued individual paths. Ma$e went on to work with Bad Boy Records and release solo material. Freek and Bloodshed continued producing and collaborating with other artists, while DJ Premier maintained his production career. The group's music, particularly "Heartless," remains part of 1990s hip-hop history.
