Live4Life formed in 2003 after a car accident took the life of 16-year-old Ryan McCurdy. His brother Shane and their friend Jared Clark started the band as a way to process that loss, with Shane on lead vocals and guitar and Jared on drums. They were later joined by Mike Miller on bass, Jason Hart on keyboards, and Chris Lieske on guitar.
Their 2006 album 'Forever Together' included the song 'Our Angel,' written for Ryan. That track became their most recognizable piece, a ballad about holding onto connections with those who are gone. In the same year, 'Our Angel' was played at a political rally, which led to some public discussion; the band clarified they weren't endorsing any political stance, just that the song's message was separate from that context.
Live4Life went on to release several more albums, including 'Heart of a Warrior' in 2008, 'Breakthrough' in 2011, 'Undying' in 2014, and 'Our Legacy' in 2019. They've kept a consistent lineup and focus, with their music often circling back to themes of memory and perseverance.
