Archive material and source history

Liveman formed in 1988, put together by producer Shuki Levy. The original lineup included Masato 'Cherry' Oosugi on vocals, Katsuyuki Mori on guitar, Toshiaki Takarai on bass, and Yuji Ozeki on drums. Their debut single 'Chyoju Sentai Liveman' served as the opening theme for the tokusatsu television series of the same name, which helped the song find an audience.

That first single established their sound, hard rock with melodic hooks, heard on tracks like 'Ashita ni Ikiru ze!' and 'Dash! Live Robo'. Guitarist Mori left in 1991 and was replaced by Akira 'Ace' Watanabe. They kept recording through the early '90s, though some later material like the album 'Liveman Dream' was met with criticism.
