Background notes

Archive material and source history

Lizban formed in 2014 when singer Liz Baskin, who had classical training, started working with guitarist Chris Smith. They released their debut album 'The Other Side' in 2016, which mixed indie-rock, pop, and folk sounds. The single 'Stay' from that album got attention on charts and helped the band reach listeners internationally.

In 2018, there were some plagiarism claims about their song 'Fade Away' being similar to another artist's track, though those were eventually dismissed. The band has put out two more albums since then: 'Between the Lines' in 2019 and 'Sanctuary' in 2022. Besides Baskin and Smith, the group includes Matt Warmington on bass and Mike Tebbutt on drums.
