Local Black formed in São Paulo in 2002 around singer Léo Falcão, with Rodrigo Carneiro on guitar, Bruno Oliveira on bass, and Ricardinho Paes on drums. They had trouble getting a record deal at first, but eventually put out their debut album in 2008. That record was called Eu Preciso de Você, and its title track became a hit in Brazil.
Their sound mixed rock with pop and reggae touches, and Falcão's lyrics tended to focus on love and personal reflection. Songs like Somente Pra Você and Volta Pra Mim kept that straightforward, emotional tone. They released a few more albums over the next several years, including Simplesmente in 2011 and Ainda Aqui in 2013.
In 2014, Falcão was arrested after a public altercation, which brought some unwanted attention to the band. They kept going afterward, putting out another album called Pra Sempre in 2016.
