Lokomotiva Universitária formed in São Paulo in the late 1970s, with Arnaldo Baptista on guitar and vocals after he'd left Os Mutantes. They put out their self-titled debut album in 1981, and later records like 'O Último Trem' in 1987 and 'A Vida Elétrica' in 1992.
Their song 'Cansei de Você' came out in 1985 and got some attention in Brazil. The band's lineup included Sérgio Dias on bass and Ronaldo Leão on drums at the start, with Paulo Miklos, Marcelo Fromer, and Robério Barbalho joining later.
They played a kind of rock that mixed things up, and their lyrics sometimes touched on social or political themes. The music had an experimental edge that didn't always fit neatly with what was popular at the time.
