Lokos De Aka formed in the late 1990s in the Villa 21 neighborhood of Buenos Aires, led by vocalist and songwriter Chano Moreno Charpentier. Their debut album 'Lokos' came out in 2003, mixing rock, hip-hop, and Latin rhythms. They followed it with albums like 'Tamo Activos' in 2004 and 'Mas Lokos Que Nunca' in 2006.
Chano's lyrics often dealt with poverty and social injustice, which sometimes drew criticism but also built a loyal following. The band's lineup changed over time, with founding members like Facundo Soto and Nacho Buzo leaving while others joined. At one point the group included Chano, Diego Iorio on drums, Sergio Catardo on bass, and Santiago Moreno Charpentier on guitar.
In 2015, Chano had a serious overdose that paused the band's activities while he went through treatment. When he returned, they kept playing their anthem 'Aguante' and other songs that had connected with Argentine audiences.
