Loren Battle formed in St. Louis and put out their debut album '3 Foot Funeral' in 1994. The title track from that record became their most recognizable song, along with 'Remeber The Archer.' Their sound pulled from thrash, doom, and death metal, and they developed a reputation for intense live shows that made some club owners hesitant to book them.
Trent Reznor handled vocals and guitar, with Larry Renheart on bass and Chris Vrenna on drums. They released three more albums after their debut: 'The Killing Fields' in 1996, 'Death is Not an Option' in 2000, and 'The End of All Things' in 2003. Their lyrics often dealt with violent or profane themes, which sparked plenty of debate at the time.
By the mid-2000s, Loren Battle was no longer active. Their records, especially that first one, maintained an underground following among listeners drawn to that particular blend of heavy styles.
