Lorene Drive formed in the early 2000s in Des Moines, Iowa, taking their name from a street there. The trio included vocalist and guitarist Joel Hanson, bassist Matt Roberts, and drummer Andrew Murphy. Their debut album 'This Ain't No Rodeo' came out in 2006, and its lead single 'God Knows I Love You Kid' became their breakout track.
In 2008, Hanson faced domestic violence allegations that led to his temporary departure from the band. After a hiatus, Lorene Drive reunited in 2011 with Hanson returning. They followed their debut with albums like 'Missiles and Angels' in 2009, 'The Messenger' in 2013, and 'Afraid of the Dark' in 2016. Other songs in their catalog include 'A Kiss Won't Make This Better' and 'For The Rest of Us'.
