The group was started by brothers Juan and Wilfredo Quispe, who drew on the region's musical traditions. Their sound mixes huayno, a traditional Peruvian dance genre, with more contemporary rhythms and instrumentation.
Their song "Como Estas Tu" became widely known around 2010. The track's success brought them attention beyond Peru, though some traditionalists questioned their approach to Andean music.
The band has released several albums, including Recuerdos de mi Tierra in 2005, El Sonido de los Andes in 2007, and the Como Estas Tu album in 2010. Along with the Quispe brothers, the group includes Edison Quispe on bass, Richard Quispe on drums, and Alfredo Quispe on percussion.
