Los Andariegos formed in 1961 in Salta province with four singers: Enrique "Kike" Teruel, Aldo Monges, Eduardo "Tato" Zambrano, and Jacinto Conde. They started performing traditional Argentine folk music like zambas and chacareras at a time when rock and roll was more popular, and early on they had trouble getting record companies interested.
In 1963, folk singer Jorge Cafrune heard them and put them on his television show. That led to a contract with CBS Records, and their first album came out in 1964. It included "Zamba Alegre," which became their best-known song.
They kept recording for decades, putting out albums like "De Salta" in 1965 and "Los Andariegos en el Teatro Colón" in 1970. Their last listed release was a 1983 collection called "20 Años."
