Los Animalitos formed in the mid-1990s with Alejandro Ospina on vocals, Andrés Rojas on guitar, Camilo Ospina on bass, and Diego Cadavid on drums. Their debut album 'Vengo de Las Montañas' came out in 1998, and its title track about rural life became popular. In 2001, guitarist Andrés Rojas died in a car accident. The band's second album 'Volver a Comenzar' from 2002 dealt with loss.
Their song 'Vendra La Muerte Y Tendra Tus Ojos' drew some criticism for its subject matter, but listeners connected with its melody and lyrics. Los Animalitos put out four studio albums between 1998 and 2014, including 'Animalitos' in 2007 and 'La Vida Te Puede Cambiar' in 2014.
