Los Clones

Los Clones formed in Mexico City during the 1980s, with Hugo Curiel, Carlos Chacón, and Enrique Herrera making up the original lineup. Their music drew from darkwave and gothic influences, creating a sound that felt intentionally shadowy and atmospheric. The song "Un Gato En La Oscuridad" became their most recognizable track, appearing on their debut album El Diablo en el Espejo.

They followed that first record with albums like El Baile de las Sombras and El Lago del Olvido, which incorporated some synthpop and industrial textures into their established style. Their live shows often featured theatrical costumes and makeup, which contributed to a certain mystique around the band.

Los Clones developed a following among listeners drawn to their moody, metaphor-heavy lyrics about solitude and melancholy. While their aesthetic sometimes attracted criticism, it also helped define their place in Mexico's alternative rock landscape of that era.
