Los Cuates De Sinaloa

Los Cuates de Sinaloa formed in the late 1990s in Sinaloa, Mexico, around brothers Alfredo and Isaias Ojeda. They worked primarily in banda music, with its brass and percussion foundation, though they sometimes incorporated cumbia and norteño touches. Their 1999 album 'Negro y Azul' gave them their breakout hit with the title track.

That song 'Negro y Azul' remains their most recognizable work, along with tracks like 'La Reina Del Sur' and 'Niña Coqueta.' Their lyrics often dealt with love, heartbreak, and everyday struggles, which occasionally drew criticism. Like many acts in the genre, they faced rumors about connections to organized crime, though nothing was ever substantiated.

They released several albums through the early 2000s, including 'Bombón Asesino' in 2001 and 'El Primer Amor' in 2003. Their sound stayed rooted in banda while occasionally shifting tone, 'El Primer Amor' leaned more romantic, while 2006's 'La Revancha' addressed social themes. The brothers kept recording through that decade without much fanfare outside their regional audience.
