Los Del Rio

Los Del Río formed in 1962 in Dos Hermanas, Seville, as a duo of Antonio Romero Monge and Rafael Ruiz Perdigones. They worked for decades in Spain before releasing 'Macarena' in 1993. The song became a global hit after the Bayside Boys remix in 1996, turning it into a dance-floor staple.

Their catalog includes earlier material like 'Sevilla Tiene Un Color Especial' and later tracks such as 'Algo Se Muere En El Alma'. The Spanish government once charged them with plagiarism over part of the 'Macarena' chorus, and there was a copyright dispute, but the song's popularity endured.

Antonio Romero, known as El Rubio, sang and played guitar. Rafael Ruiz, El Moreno, handled percussion and backing vocals. They kept recording after the Macarena wave, putting out albums that mixed flamenco, pop, and Latin rhythms without matching that single's reach.
