Los Gardelitos formed in 1996 in Isidro Casanova, a working-class suburb of Buenos Aires. The band was led by singer and guitarist Eli Suárez. Their debut album 'Gardelitos' came out in 1998 and included the track 'El Blues de la Libertad.'
Their song '6 AM' became something of an anthem, and other tracks like 'Corazon bailando al viento' and 'Nadie Cree En Mi Canción' show their range. They followed up with albums like 'Recuerdos de un Loco' in 2000 and 'Fuera de Control' in 2002.
In 2006, Suárez was arrested for drug possession, which caused some public concern. The band continued releasing music after that, with albums including 'El Tiempo Cura' that same year and 'Quemando Almas' in 2008.
