Los Gatos formed in 1966 with Litto Nebbia, Alfredo Toth, Ciro Fogliatta, and Oscar Moro. Their self-titled debut album came out the following year, and they became known for mixing rock with folk and psychedelic touches. The song 'La Balsa' turned into an immediate hit that defined their early sound.
In 1970, the band had to change their name to Los Gatos Salvajes because of a lawsuit from a Mexican group with the same name. They kept recording through the early seventies, putting out albums like 'Rock de la Humanidad' in 1972 and 'Adiós a la Ciudad' in 1973. Other tracks like 'El Rey Lloró' and 'Ayer Nomás' show the range they developed over those years.
Los Gatos broke up in 1976. They got back together briefly in the 1990s to play some festival dates, but their main run was that decade from the late sixties through the mid-seventies.
