Los Genios were a Chilean band that formed in the 1960s. They had a raw rock sound that caught attention in Santiago clubs, with Patricio Salazar on vocals and guitar, Luis Corvalán on bass, Carlos González on drums, and Edmundo Martínez on keyboards.
Their song "Te Quería Porquería" came out in 1966 and became their signature track. It's a bitter breakup song with a driving rhythm that still gets played. They also recorded "Tiene Veneno" and put out a few albums in the late 1960s.
The band faced political pressure in Chile and eventually moved to Argentina. They kept playing there until Corvalán died in a car accident in 1976. After that, they didn't really continue as a group.
