Los Periplos formed in Barcelona in 2004 with Andrea Sánchez on vocals, Albert Guillén on guitar, David García on bass, and Aleix Sans on drums. Their first album, "Desalineados," came out in 2006 and gave the band its most recognizable song. They put out four more records over the next decade, ending with "Flores del mal" in 2017.
Their music often dealt with difficult subjects like poverty and mental health, which sometimes drew criticism. The band kept writing what they wanted anyway. You can hear that directness in songs like "Desalineados," where Sánchez's voice carries a mix of defiance and something more fragile.
They were a Barcelona band through and through, and their sound had that city's particular blend of atmosphere and rhythm. Guillén's guitar work created spacious backdrops, while Sans's drumming gave the songs an unsettled, forward-moving pulse. They made five albums together before stopping.
