Los Piojos formed in the early 1990s in Buenos Aires, specifically coming out of the El Palomar area. Their first album was "Chactuchac" in 1992, which included the track "El Farolito." The band was led by singer Andrés Ciro Martínez.
Their music mixed rock with reggae and Latin rhythms, and later albums like "Tercer Arco" brought in folk and blues sounds. Songs like "Maradó" and "Vine Hasta Aquí" became well-known in their catalog. They built a following in Argentina's rock scene during that decade.
In 1998, bassist Miguel Ángel "Micky" Rodríguez left the group and was replaced by Daniel Buira. The band faced some internal tensions and drew criticism at times for their lyrical content, but they kept recording through the late '90s and early 2000s.
