Los Pirata

Los Pirata came out of Zaragoza, Spain in 1998 with a sound that mixed rock, pop, and ska. They had trouble getting radio play early on, but built a following in the underground scene. Their breakthrough came with the song "A Mí Me Gustan Las Hamburguesas," a quirky ode to hamburgers that caught on despite some criticism about its subject matter.

That song's success led to wider recognition, with the band touring Spain and Latin America. Their live shows became known for theatrical touches like giant hamburger props. Beyond that hit, they recorded other tracks like "Amor y Libertad" and "Deseo" that showed a broader range than just novelty songs.

Their albums found an audience that appreciated their unconventional approach, though they never quite fit into mainstream categories. The band's mix of humor and musicality gave them a distinctive place in the Spanish alternative scene of the late 90s and early 2000s.
