Los Tekis

Los Tekis formed in 1992 in Argentina's Calchaquí Valleys, started by Mauricio Díaz and Mario Teruel. Their debut album was called "Los Tekis del Valle." They play a mix of Andean folk music with pop, and their songs like "Ángel de Amor" and "Bailecito" have become staples in their catalog.

Over time, the band expanded to include Sebastian López on keyboards, Walter Gusmán on bass, and Juanjo Pestoni on drums. Their sound draws from traditional Andean melodies but often feels accessible, built around vocal harmonies and rhythms that work in both folk settings and more contemporary arrangements.

In 2016, Mario Teruel faced sexual abuse charges, a case that drew significant attention. He was later acquitted. The band continued performing and recording through this period, maintaining a steady presence in Latin American music without the dramatic career shifts some groups experience.

Their setlists usually feature songs such as "Cholita de ojos azules" and "Como has hecho," which fit alongside their better-known tracks. They've released over a dozen albums, but their live shows are where they connect most directly with audiences, relying on the interplay between Díaz and Teruel's voices and the group's rhythmic foundation.
