Los TJ Souls formed in Monterrey, Mexico, with Tony Garza on vocals and guitar, Javier Garza on percussion, and Santiago Fernandez handling keyboards and accordion. They released their debut album in 2005, which included the song "Cuando Nos Conocimos." That track became their breakthrough single, connecting with listeners across Latin America.
They followed up with several more albums over the next decade or so, including Un Nuevo Amanecer in 2007, Desde el Alma in 2010, Renacer in 2014, and Evolucion in 2018. In 2008, Tony Garza was diagnosed with thyroid cancer, which led to some canceled shows while he received treatment.
Around 2012, another band accused Los TJ Souls of plagiarizing one of their songs, resulting in a legal dispute that eventually got dismissed. The group kept recording and performing through these periods.
